What types of driving jobs are ideal for a Woman?

Are you considering getting into trucking? Ask your questions to experienced drivers. What truck driving schools to attend, where and how to get a refresher course, who pays for truck driver training and who hires right out of truck school.

What types of driving jobs are ideal for a Woman?

I'm thinking about getting my CDL License. What types of driving jobs are ideal for a woman? I was thinking about driving a school bus. I'm sure there are alot of different types of driving jobs but what are some that I could expect to find and get hired at?

It all depends on the woman not the job.
Some women love going OTR, some like doing local food deliveries, and yes, some even like driving school buses.
It all depends on the woman.

I can tell you that if you want to drive a school bus, there are many rules involved, it doesn't pay very well, and usually it is only part time.
If you have any tickets or accidents in any vehicle in the past 3 years, or ever been convicted of a crime or DUI, you can forget it, you will not be hired.
At least that's the rules here. :D

Right now because of the economy it is a very bad time for a new driver to get hired for any driving job.
Since there are so many experienced drivers out of work, being a newbie and getting hired is tough.
Good Luck! :D

I guess the school bus is out of the question then. I have a DUI from 14 years ago, but otherwise my license has been clean for over 3 years. My husband's friend at work has her CDL license and the school she obtained it from keeps calling her about jobs. She doesn't take them though because she's comfortable at her current job. I guess it's hard finding a job anywhere now though. I just don't know what to do about getting a CDL or not. I don't want to waste money on schooling if I'm not going to be working as a driver. :?:

A Woman can work any type of driving job. If they have a clean record. I won't tell you a lot of crap like there are a lot of jobs out here for new drivers because there is not. The DUI is going to play into the job as well. How much is up to the company you driver for. Making more than 25 to 30 thousand in the first year is average and do able but more than that is not likely. If you don't stay with the same company for the first year your diving you will have a hard time marketing yourself. Companies are only wanting drivers that with less than 3 jobs in 5 years. Trucking schools are well known for taking the money and leaving the new driver hanging when it comes to job placement. If you don't have a prehire form a company I would not spend the money at this time for a CDL in this economy.

Just my opinion I could be wrong!
